Enjoy a straighter smile

In dentistry, we can use composite bonding as a fast-track way to improve the appearance of mildly crooked teeth.

Most methods of straightening teeth either require lengthy courses of treatment, such as orthodontics or clear aligner treatment, or more invasive techniques like veneers. Composite bonding allows you to have straighter teeth in just one visit, with minimal damage to your natural teeth.

Composite Bonding vs Porcelain Veneers

Both composite bonding and porcelain veneers achieve similar results in creating the perfect smile. However, they have very different properties.
Porcelain is very durable, meaning that it doesn't break easily, but if it does break, it's not easy to repair. Composite is less durable but easy to repair if breakages occur. Porcelain is also non-porous, meaning it doesn't stain easily, but it doesn't look quite as realistic as composite resin.

We're always happy to discuss the benefits and drawbacks of each treatment and answer any questions so you can choose what's best for you.

The Start of your Smile Makeover

Cosmetic bonding is an excellent standalone treatment to improve your smile. If you'd like to level up your looks, your skilled cosmetic dentist will take you through complementary treatments as part of a smile makeover plan.

Convenient Coverage

Composite bonding helps treat many common conditions that you feel are affecting your smile, such as:

  • Repairing chipped, worn, or broken teeth
  • Improving the appearance of discoloured teeth
  • Enhancing and improving the shape of uneven teeth
  • Closing spaces between teeth
  • Closing "triangles" caused by gum recession
  • Protecting exposed roots

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Composite Bonding?

Cosmetic bonding or composite bonding is a dental restoration material used to fill in and strengthen tooth structure for either cosmetic or restorative purposes.
Your new restorations are made of a similar material to the one used in white fillings: meaning we have years of clinical backing and knowledge ensuring quality dental treatments.

What are some of the benefits of Composite Bonding?

Dental bonding benefits include being non-invasive and preserving as much of your natural tooth as possible. At Atrium Dental, we take pride in ethical dentistry, and we take a minimalist approach whilst transforming your smile.

Does Composite Bonding hurt?

No. Composite bonding is a relatively non-invasive treatment. In fact, you’re unlikely to need a local anaesthetic. Unlike porcelain veneers - which require us to remove some of the enamel to create extra space - the preparation for composite bonding is minimal. Whatever treatment you have with us, we always strive to preserve as much of your natural tooth as possible.

What is the difference between Composite Bonding and other treatments?

The main difference is the results. Bonding uses the latest technology and has similar visual properties to your enamel. The finish is very natural, durable and looks like your own tooth structure. Unlike veneers (which use tooth-coloured porcelain), they are easily repairable should you have a chip or breakage.

How should I care for my teeth after composite bonding?

Composite resins are nearly as strong as natural teeth. If you take good care of your restorations, they should last for several years. To get the most from dental work, it is essential to maintain excellent oral hygiene to keep the surrounding gums healthy. You could chip your bonding if you bite or chew your fingernails, pens, or very hard or sticky foods.

Do I need to have all of my teeth treated?

As part of your bespoke treatment plan, we'll discuss the best ways to achieve your smile goals. Achieving your idea of the perfect smile doesn't always mean you need to change the appearance of all of your teeth. We can treat individual teeth and make minor tweaks using composite in natural tooth shades that match your natural teeth.

Can I whiten my teeth after treatment?

Unfortunately, one of the few drawbacks of composite restorations (as well as ceramic or porcelain restorations) is that they cannot be whitened. Bleaching agents don't change the colour of the material. If you're looking at whitening your teeth, we recommend doing this before composite bonding treatment so that we can match your new dazzling smile!
