These invisible aligners are a helpful treatment for adults who want to go from crooked teeth to straight teeth without having to wear traditional metal braces for an extended period of time.

Treatment Journey

Treating yourself to a beautiful smile is easier than you think!
Step 1: Your treatment journey begins with a consultation where you can talk to us about your smile goals so that we can start creating a treatment plan aimed at giving you a perfect smile.
Step 2: Actual treatment starts with a 3D scan of your teeth and gums that we'll use to plan your treatment and create your aligners. We'll also take x-rays to check for any underlying conditions that may affect your treatment. These are sent to the SureSmile® laboratories who will make your aligners.
Step 3: You'll receive your first sets of bespoke aligners. At this appointment, you'll have some tooth-coloured "bumps" added to some of your teeth that help hold your removable aligners in place. These will be an exact colour match to your natural teeth, so they aren't easily seen. We'll give you all the instructions you'll need to carry on your treatment at home with enough aligners to use until your next appointment.
Step 4: You’ll see us approximately every 6 weeks to receive new aligners, check that treatment is progressing correctly, and for us to make any adjustments.
Step - Your new smile! You're done. You'll receive removable retainers that will keep your smile as perfect as it is today!

What is SureSmile®?

SureSmile® is an orthodontic treatment that uses clear aligners rather than fixed metal braces (similar to Invisalign®). They are removable, meaning you can eat as usual and take them out for special occasions or when being filmed or photographed.

How Do SureSmile Braces Work?

SureSmile® uses numerous clear aligners to gently reposition your teeth. Each aligner is slightly different from the last, applying pressure to various areas. Your teeth move away from this gentle pressure as your custom-created aligner series will gradually move your teeth into the ideal position for a flawless smile.

How long does SureSmile take to straighten teeth?

The average treatment takes between 9-12 months. Before starting treatment, your dentist will be able to tell you how many aligners you'll need and how long treatment will take if you follow your treatment plan.

Is fitting SureSmile painful?

You can expect some discomfort in the first few weeks. This is entirely normal and the pain is generally not severe. General aching can be managed with over-the-counter medication such as paracetamol, if required. Aligners are more comfortable than having fixed braces for the first time, and aching/pain will calm down after a few sets of aligners. It is normal to have a sensation of pressure when fitting a new aligner.

What are the alternatives to fitting SureSmile?

There are numerous options to create the appearance of straighter teeth, including other orthodontic options, such as metal braces and lingual braces. We’ll happily refer you to a recommended specialist orthodontist for anything we don't do here at Atrium Dental.

How do I care for my teeth while SureSmile aligners?

One of the best things about SureSmile is that it's removable, meaning you can brush your teeth twice per day as usual. For optimum care, we recommend brushing after eating in order to reduce the levels of acid in your mouth and saliva that can get trapped.

SureSmile vs Invisalign®?

Whilst Invisalign® is the market leader in clear aligners, the treatment isn’t as “invisible” as it could be. SureSmile® aligners are clearer than Invisalign’s, making them a better alternative if you’re looking for discrete orthodontics.
