Teeth whitening

Tooth colour is a very individual thing and can darken as we get older. It is also affected by food and drinks such as tea, coffee, red wine and smoking. Teeth whitening is a simple and effective way to improve the appearance of your smile. At Atrium Dental we offer kits to whiten your teeth at home or in surgery Zoom! Laser Whitening.

Home Whitening Kits

If you choose to whiten your teeth at home, we will take moulds of your top and bottom teeth from which customised whitening trays are then made.  You will fill the trays with the whitening gel and wear them at night, or for a few hours during the day depending on your preference. Home whitening is a gradual process, but results are normally seen over 1-2 weeks and will last for up to 2 years before you need to do a top up.

In Surgery Whitening

We also offer the Zoom! Advanced Power™ in-practice whitening procedure. Using whitening gel with state-of-the-art light technology, this whitening treatment leaves your teeth an average of eight shades whiter in less than an hour. Zoom! is a proven and reliable ‘laser’ whitening technique, and the procedure is safe, fast acting, gentle and very effective.

Zoom! Teeth Whitening

During this procedure, a dam is put around your teeth to protect the gums and a bleaching product is carefully put onto your teeth. Then a special laser is shone on the teeth to activate the chemical. The light speeds up the reaction of the whitening product and the colour change can be achieved more quickly.

Zoom! Is a state-of-the-art whitening treatment (often called "Laser" or "power whitening") that is carried out directly in the dental chair and which leaves your teeth an average of eight shades whiter in less than an hour.

Dental crowns

A crown is a type of dental restoration used to fix teeth that have broken too far to be refilled. The crown fits over the remaining part of a prepared tooth, making it strong and giving it the shape and look of a natural tooth.

A crown can be a good solution if you have discoloured fillings. Crowns can be used to replace these to give you a more aesthetic smile. Also, if you have had root canal treatment you will often need a crown to protect the restored tooth.

Smile Makeover

Typically consisting of a blend of different cosmetic dental treatment and other dental solutions, the goal of a Smile Makeover is to dramatically improve the appearance of your teeth.

Following a FREE Initial Consultation and a subsequent Smile Assessment, we'll create a bespoke Treatment Plan that's tailored to your unique needs. This might involve some of the following treatment solutions:

Porcelain veneers

Porcelain dental veneers are an excellent cosmetic solution for patients with discoloured, worn down, chipped, misaligned, uneven or irregularly shaped teeth.

Following a thorough examination, the treatment involves preparing your teeth by shaping them and taking a thin layer of enamel from the surface of the tooth, this ensures your smile doesn't look or feel bulky once the veneers are in place.

We will then take an impression (or mould) of the area, and then send this to the laboratory so the veneers can be custom-made to precisely the right shade and shape to suit you.

Once ready, the veneers are bonded into place, becoming part of your own teeth and creating a beautiful, natural look. Dental veneers will boost your smile, they're suitable for the majority of patients and having them fitted is very straightforward.

Inlays & onlays

Inlays and onlays are two types of restorations used when you have a cavity in your tooth that is too big to be filled. An inlay is a small filling that fits into the biting surface of a tooth while an onlay covers a larger area of the tooth and is better suited to bigger cavities. Made from tooth-coloured porcelain and gives the restored tooth a more natural look, which many patients prefer.

Composite bonding

Where front teeth have become worn with time, we can often rebuild the edges in white composite bonding filling to restore the length of the teeth back to normal. This is often combined with straightening your teeth first and whitening them too before bonding the edges.

White fillings

Replacing old fillings with tooth-coloured 'white' fillings is another relatively quick and cost effective way of improving your smile. This is a safe procedure in which the metal filling in the tooth is removed and a tooth-coloured filling is placed instead. White fillings allow you to smile without a metallic glint in sight, giving your teeth a more natural overall appearance. We can often improve your smile simply by replacing any old discoloured white fillings that you have in your front teeth.

Dental bridges

Gaps in your teeth can lead to increased stresses on your other teeth and affect the way you bite and chew. A dental bridge is a permanent fixture comprising one or more false teeth and is used to fill the gap after the natural tooth has been lost through injury or extraction.

Like dental implants, a dental bridge is a simple and effective way to get a fixed replacement for missing teeth.
